the three loves of my life.

ya'll. i need to introduce you to the three things that have changed my life. well, my face's life anyway.

baking soda. coconut oil. apple cider vinegar.

last year i told my mom about this thing called the oil cleansing method. (google it) and we both started doing it and loved it and it made our faces pretty and glowing. then i was using my time suuuuuuuuuuuuuuper productively on pinterest and ran across a pin about washing your face with coconut oil. usually all those "make your face cleaner in 12 seconds flat!!!!!!!!!" pins don't work, so i ignored it. but after i saw it 95395898 times, i decided to check it out. i bought coconut oil, mixed it with equal parts baking soda and then rubbed that stuff all over my face. holy. cow. my face was so clean. it was a beautiful thing.

so long oil cleansing method, hello coconut oil.

all you have to do is get your face wet, rub the stuff in, and then wash it off with warm/hot water. it's my favorite thing ever. i also use the coconut oil as moisturizer. double whammy.

the next thing to smack me in the face with its awesomeness was apple cider vinegar. an embarrassing fact about me that i'm happy to embrace is that i love the smell of apple cider vinegar and run on sentences. we used to have steamed cabbage for dinner sometimes when i was younger. it was really delicious to put vinegar on. for extra fun, i would pour a little vinegar into the cap of the vinegar bottle and then sit it next to my plate while i ate so i could smell it. totally normal. moving on.

this stuff is like, magical. you combine it with equal parts water and then put it all over your face after you do the coconut business and it clears your face up like. crazy. i like to put the same mixture in my hair for conditioner sometimes. it cleans my hair suuuper well. also, you should probably get that specific brand of apple cider vinegar. it's the best. my mom even drinks it. what a lady.

give it a try! let me know what you think.

  1. Oh my goodness! Love all this stuff. But, I think you should be more specific. I put plain coconut oil on my eyes to remove eye makeup, then mix the coconut oil and baking soda in my hand right before applying to my wet face. About equal parts. It exfoliates! It's the best. Thank you for introducing me to this wonderful method, Kimberly! I love you so.
P.S. Does a comment this long make me a blogger??

  3. I'll have to try this. I think I'm going to wash my face with honey and see what that does. I hear its really good for your skin and a natural antimicrobial. We shall see. This method sounds promising too! And I already have two of three ingredients here! yay

  4. Hi, Kimberly :)

I came here from Ashley Ann's. I've seen your name on Instagram a lot and thought I'd say hey. And heeeeey, what do you know? I'm a coconut devoutee, too! But just for moisturizer. I've never tried the baking soda mix cleanser. I'm intrigued! And I pinned the apple cider vinegar toner a while ago but still haven't tried it. The oil has already changed me face (super DUPER dry skin).
