wedding flowers.

i'm getting really clever with these post titles, huh?

i didn't take really take any pictures the day of kelsey's wedding. i wanted to be respectful of the photographers we hired, and i had pleeeeeenty of other things to do. but i couldn't resist taking pictures of the flowers.

i love taking pictures of flowers. the very first time i used a DSLR camera, i went in aunt cindy's backyard and took pictures of flowers and grass and water spigots. i didn't know what an aperture was. i didn't know what bokeh was, but i liked getting close and personal with a flower and isolating it from its surroundings.

i shoot on full manual now and i know what all those words mean, but i still like taking pictures of flowers.

and the bouquets were beautiful, so that makes it even more fun.

kelsey's bridal shower.

now that my sister is married, i guess it's time to post pictures from her bridal shower. #iamlazy
the shower was hosted by our sister jessica, me, holly and sarah. i didn't really do a lot except make the invitations, the cake and the cupcakes. laura and i tag teamed on the cake stuff. so most of the credit goes to the other three hosts.

the invitation:

since i didn't really help that much, i don't really have a lot to say about the party except it was fun, the cake was good and i got to hold some babies.

the food table:

i did most of the cake and laura did most of the cupcakes. chocolate cake with mocha chocolate and cream cheese frosting. vanilla cupcakes with mocha chocolate frosting.

drinks:

each guest was asked to write some well wishes to the couple on a jenga block. either that or advice. i don't remember because i was a smarty pants and wrote whatever i wanted. :)

each guest was also asked to write down a menu idea.

jessica literally cannot host a party and not have a waffle bar.

after the party, these two cleaned up the cupcakes. nathaniel and annika kept calling the little bride and groom toppers something funny, but i can't remember what it was because it was a month ago and i'm a #badblogger

i like parties. and i like cake. so it was a lovely day.

bloom where you're planted.

i spent the evening at my sister's house the other night for dinner. after dinner, the babies played with the hose and started planting some plants. lucky me, i had my camera!

now i'm off to a conference in kansas city with these two gems!

lawrence high senior prom | laura 2013

laura went to senior prom this last saturday. she asked me to do her hair and take her group pictures. i like to be in charge, so of course i said yes. i didn't go to prom, so it was fun to see her getting ready. she went with her friend, zach, who supports me being in charge as well.

i made them do this pose. well, i tricked them into it. it's my fave. #cheesyprompics

happy wednesday!
